Death comes with a sense of grief to the deceased family and especially when it comes to impecunious people, it becomes a huge task for them to execute funeral arrangements with their hand to mouth circumstances without even asking for a favor while in the shock for the deceased one.

Figure 1: Death remembrance Ayat.

We searched around communities to see what social issues are less highlighted and decided to perform for this sacred duty as it is the Farz al Kifaya.

“The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who brings the most benefit to people, and the most beloved of deeds to Allah is making a Muslim happy, or relieving him of hardship, or paying off his debt, or warding off hunger from him”. (Prophet Muhammad PBUH)

Thus, we plan to provide final settlement services/concierge services to those people in the community who are in need but do not ask for so that they do not have the burden to make arrangements on their own while mourning their loved ones.

We aimed to provide funeral-related services to those who can’t afford it and initially we selected a particular area for this project.

This idea was developed comprising of various tasks including area selection, funds collection, buying utensils and Kafan garments, and excel sheet data analytics.

In this specific context, our team comprising 7 dedicated workers planed our responsibilities with a Gantt chart explaining the timeline in terms of weeks and various tasks designed to be done in time to fulfill this noble task and provides satisfaction to the affected family.

Figure 3: A plea to donate for mankind.

As far as the donation for the Mega Project is concerned, we planned three categories of events to collect funds. Some of our teammates collected funds through door-to-door campaigns. Two members reached out to the people of the assigned area to collect funds at funeral gatherings and during Jumma prayer from their central mosque. The rest of the members collected the funds through social media through Facebook and WhatsApp posts and advertisements and till now the funds are gradually rising. After the collection of funds, the amount is utilized to buy Kafan fabric and utensils that are used at funerals. For execution, team members residing nearer to the assigned area reach out to the family of the deceased directly to provide the required material to the funeral place and deal with the management.

We have set the basic framework needed to run it and are going to implement it in the coming 2 weeks.
